چکیده
Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess differences in clinical outcomes and postoperative cartilage repair between opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) closed HTO (CWHTO) for medial osteoarthritis (OA) the knee. Methods: A total 90 knees 76 patients who underwent OWHTO (45 40 patients) CWHTO 36 followed-up 2 years. Cartilage at compartment arthroscopically classified into following stages: Stage 1 (no reparative change); (partial coverage with white cartilaginous tissue); 3 (full tissue). Clinical were assessed using Knee Society scores, radiographic assessment carried out by anatomical femorotibial angle (aFTA). Results: Regarding preoperative OA grade, varus alignment, function score, showed more advanced status than patients. scores significantly improved after surgery both procedures (P < 0.05), no significant difference two procedures. stage or found 80% subjects femoral condyle 60% condyle. However, there Multivariate logistic regression analysis that International Repair (ICRS) grade only factor affecting repair. Conclusions: as much OWHTO. Although effects on are unknown, is an effective treatment option even severe

Comparison of clinical and radiological outcomes between opening-wedge and closing-wedge high tibial osteotomy: A comprehensive meta-analysis
High tibial osteotomy (HTO) has been widely used for clinical treatment of osteoarthritis of the medial compartment of the knee, and both opening-wedge and closing-wedge HTO are the most commonly used methods. However, it remains unclear which technique has better clinical and radiological outcomes in practice. To systematically evaluate this issue, we conducted a comprehensive meta-analysis by...
متن کاملClosing-wedge high tibial osteotomy: survival and risk factor analysis at long-term follow up
BACKGROUND Closing-wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is successful for the treatment of medial osteoarthritis with varus malalignment. Preoperative risk factors for HTO failure are still controversial. The aim of this study was to elucidate the outcome and assess the influence of risk factors on long term HTO survival. METHODS 199 patients were retrospectively studied with a mean follow-up pe...
متن کاملA Short Term Follow Up Comparison of Genu Varum Corrective Surgery Using Open and Closed Wedge High Tibial Osteotomy
INTRODUCTION Knee deformity associated with osteoarthritis (OA) is one of the most common complications seen in patients referred to orthopaedic surgeons. High tibial osteotomy (HTO) is an accepted method for treatment of medial knee osteoarthritis with varus deformity. The aim of this study was to compare results of osteotomy methods in patients with genu varum (GV) deformity. METHODS In thi...

متن کاملLeg length change after opening wedge and closing wedge high tibial osteotomy: A meta-analysis
BACKGROUND Theoretical considerations suggest that leg length increases after opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) and decreases after closing wedge HTO; however, in vivo studies have yielded conflicting results. This meta-analysis therefore assessed changes in leg length after opening wedge and closing wedge HTO. METHODS All studies comparing pre- and postoperative leg length in patient...
